  WHO THIS IS FOR

You've been thinking about this for a while...

You've been baking for people you love for years. Friends ask you to bring things to every gathering. Someone told you "you should sell these" and the thought stuck.

But every time you sit down to figure out how to actually start, the list of things to figure out just gets longer. Business license? Cottage food rules? Pricing? Instagram? A website? You close the tab. You'll figure it out later.

Here's what I want you to know: starting a cottage bakery is simpler than the internet makes it sound. You don't need a website, a logo, or a commercial kitchen to take your first real order. You need a plan and a few focused hours to build one.

That is what this workshop is.

  WHAT YOU'LL HAVE

When you finish, you'll have a real business plan.

Not a rough idea. Not more notes. A written plan you can act on — built inside the student workbook, module by module, while you watch.

✓ A legal structure chosen

Simple, legitimate, and exactly right for where you're starting.

✓ 1–3 signature products

The right ones to launch with: chosen for the right reasons.

✓ An order email template ready to share

A clear, warm message you can copy and paste the moment someone asks how to order.

✓ A marketing plan for your first week

One channel, three posts, and ten personal conversations. That's enough to start.

✓ Your state's cottage food rules written down

So you know exactly what you can sell and what you can't.

✓ Each product priced using a real formula

Not a guess. Not "whatever feels fair." A number that covers your costs and pays you.

✓ A basic income and expense tracker set up

Simple and clean from day one, so your numbers make sense from the start.

✓ A 7-day launch checklist

Day by day. So you know exactly what to do next... and in what order.

  WHAT'S INSIDE

Four focused modules. One complete plan.

Every module includes a worksheet in your student workbook. By the time you finish the last one, the workbook is your business plan — filled in and ready to use.

Your Business Foundation

You don't need ten products to launch. You need one to three that sit at the intersection of what you love to make, what your state allows, and what people in your area will pay for. This module helps you find that sweet spot — and teaches you why starting focused is actually the smarter strategy.

Before you can take your first order, you need to know two things: how your business is legally set up, and what you're allowed to sell. We'll cover both. By the end of this module, you'll have made two actual decisions — your business structure and your cottage food rules written down — not just gathered more to look up later.

Your Signature Product Lineup

This is the module where your bakery becomes a real business. You'll price each of your products using a formula that accounts for ingredients, packaging, time, and profit. You'll write an order template you can start using immediately. And you'll set up a simple tracker so your income and expenses are clean from day one. None of it requires special software.

Orders & Money Basics

One channel. Three posts. Ten personal conversations. That is your first marketing plan — and it is enough to take your first real orders. We'll choose your platform, write your bio, plan those first three posts, and make a list of the ten people you'll personally reach out to this week. Trying to be everywhere when you're just starting out is a reliable path to burnout. This module keeps it focused on purpose.

Your student workbook is your actual business plan.

Every module comes with worksheets you fill out while you watch. When you finish the last module, the workbook is done — and so is your business plan. Not a template. A real, written record of the decisions you made today.

7-Day Launch Checklist

Day by day, so you know exactly what to do next

  Hi, I'm Dani

I started exactly where you are.

I woke up one morning in December of 2018 and decided that on January 1, 2019, I was going to start selling cookies. No logo. No website. No commercial kitchen. Just a product I loved, a legal lane I'd verified, and a plan I could act on.

I confirmed my cottage food rules. I chose a business structure. I wrote out my order information. And I launched.

Since then, I've made over 160,000 cookies, taught more than 1,300 students, and built a business I genuinely love in Hood River, Oregon. I wear every hat in the business — and I'll teach you how to do the same.

No one taught me the business side. I had to figure it out the hard way, including the part where I raised my prices 250% over five years because I started underpricing. This workshop is everything I wish someone had handed me on January 1, 2019.

FAQs

Q: Do I need any business experience to take this workshop?
A: No. This workshop is built for people who are at the very beginning. No prior business knowledge required, that's the whole point.

Q: How long is the workshop?
A: Four modules totaling approximately 75 minutes. Most students complete the whole thing in one sitting, though you can pause and come back anytime: you have lifetime access.

Q: Is the workbook a printed or digital document?
A: It's a downloadable PDF. You can print it and fill it in by hand as you watch, which is how it's designed to be used, or fill it in digitally... whichever works for you.

Q: What if I'm not sure my state allows me to sell from home?
A: Module 1 walks you through exactly how to find your state's cottage food laws, what to look for, and how to confirm what you can and can't sell. You'll look yours up and record the details during the workshop, so you leave with clarity... not more uncertainty.

Q: I already have a little business going. Is this still right for me?
A: This workshop is designed for bakers who are launching or in the very early stages. If you're already taking orders regularly and things are running, you might be further along — take the free quiz at daniskitchenshop.com/a-bakery-of-your-own to find your stage and the right next step.

Q: What makes this course different?

A: This isn’t a cookie-cutter business course. It’s built by a baker who’s been exactly where you are — balancing flour, family, and finances. It’s practical, heart-led, and focused on turning your creativity into sustainable income without burnout.

Q: Is this the same as The Business of Baking course?

A: No, they're designed for different stages. This workshop is Stage 1: it gets you launched and gives you a foundation to build on. The Business of Baking is Stage 4: it's for bakers who are already selling and ready to build the full system. Both are part of the A Bakery of Your Own framework.
